| Early in 1993 I was looking for a stud dog to use on Jeck's dam in order to produce a litter with good working drives suitable for the dog sport, as my old dog Bandit was by that time retired. I heard from Steve Dunn that Marcus Gut, the German who judged the BSA Nationals in 1994, had been very impressed by a young East German dog he had seen on the south coast which had been imported to this country prior to being sent to Barbados. I travelled down with Don Harrison and Jim Jackson to look at the dog and decided he was just what I needed for my bitch. The dog was a very strong, short coupled bi colour with very pronounced defence and pray drives and was also well balanced and confident, (so much that I tried to buy him from the American owner, but would not consider selling). I believe this was the only stud the dog had before going to Barbados. My bitch duly produced our litter, and I selected Jeck to retain for training for the dog sport. Of his siblings Jet was with Manchester Police, Jaeger was involved in the sport with Gary Peacock, (who won the 1998 interregional championships with 280 points), and the rest went to pet homes. I find it interesting that in spite of dire warnings from so called 'experts' on the dangers of placing this type of dog in a pet environment the animals in this litter adapted to this environment with no problems whatsoever. Jeck made SchHI under Dutch Judge Wim van Dijk on 10/09/94, and SchHII under Louis Vanderpoel (Belgium) on 11/12/94 from there he made SchHIII 16 times with a general grade of SG and twice with the grade V. |

What a super dog I consider myself very lucky to have worked and bred such a good dog. Jeck 1993 - 2002 R.I.P Chris Bows |
